The MIB-200™ is the updated version of the MIB-100™ and replaces the older fluorescent lamps with newer LED Lighting Modules (AKA LED Lamps) and provides a very uniform inspection volume.. The inspection volume characteristics are similar for both units, with the MIB-200™ being able to produce higher light intensity levels. If the units are set to approximately the same light intensity level then the maps of the inspection volume will be identical. The inspection volume is about 10 liters center in the middle of the White / Black Background. This is one of the largest uniform inspection volumes available on any manual inspection booth. Why is this important? Because the uniform light intensity means that the inspection team will have consistent inspection results regardless of the product position within the inspection volume. This is virtually flat when compared to a typical single-sided illumination system. Here is a 3D plot of the light intensity value along the depth centerline of the MIB-100. The MIB-100 implements a Top / Bottom illumination system, the light enters the inspection volume from the top and bottom. This is very good for larger containers and provides the same light intensity throughout the container. Note: Probability of Detection is directly related to the amount of light in the inspection volume.
The shape of the of the light intensity profile or “Saddle” will be maintained over a range of intensity settings. The position of the light plates in the inspection booth will tend to flatten the Saddle as the lamps are moved further from the center of the inspection volume. The goal of the two sided illumination system is provide a nearly constant intensity within the inspection volume so that the probability of detection remains constant. This is particularly important as the size of the contains becomes larger, i.e. 100 ml or larger products. The light intensity map for the MIB-100™ is shown but the MIB-200™ will appear similar.
