MIB-180 Manual Inspection Booth

Lighting Products and Referee Level Particle Standards for Manual Inspection Projects

Model MIB-180 (Current Version is 4.0.1)

The Manual Inspection Booth (MIB-180) in Standard Configuration is shown in Figure below.  This is a basic manual inspection booth with no PLC functions and with analog lighting control.  This model has been discontinued as of January 2023 because the design of the new 3622 Lighting Controller no longer supports analog control.  Phoenix Imaging will provide support for previous MIB-180™ products but will not take orders for new production.  We retain the information about the MIB-180™ on our website so that previous customers can find support.

The MIB-180™ is designed to provide a uniform illumination work envelope and consistent inspection environment in a Top / Bottom Lighting configuration for Laboratory or Production QA. The framework of the MIB-180 is ergonomically designed and implements a recently patented balanced lighting system that generates a 10 Liter inspection volume in which light intensity is held within 15%, thus eliminating a major component for inspection data variability.  This large accurate inspection volume allows the inspector to easily position samples in the chamber.

The MIB-180 has a rather simple operator interface.  It shows if the Top and Bottom lights are in regulation and a method to turn On or Off the booth (see figure to the right).

The MIB-180 offers many of the features of the MIB-200 but it does not implement a PLC for system control or pacer functions.  The cost of the replacement MIB-200™ isn’t much more than the MIB-180™.  The MIB-180™ unit can not be upgraded to a MIB-200™ because it lacks the necessary components.
